Commissionaires
Ottawa
The Commissionaires Ottawa project at 24 Colonnade Road involved a significant two-storey addition and complex renovation to the organization's existing brick headquarters, a project that required careful structural integration between old and new construction while upgrading the building to contemporary standards.
The addition required new foundation work tied into the existing structure, with new structural, mechanical, and electrical systems that integrated seamlessly with the building's original infrastructure. A signature stainless steel staircase was fabricated and installed as a central architectural feature of the expanded facility, providing both function and a striking modern focal point within the renewed interior.
The project was executed in two phases to allow Commissionaires Ottawa to maintain operational continuity throughout construction. Careful sequencing ensured that the organization's essential security services administration could continue without disruption while adjacent spaces were under active construction.
Comprehensive building upgrades were integrated throughout both phases: updated HVAC for improved indoor air quality and energy performance, new electrical distribution and lighting systems, and full compliance with current accessibility standards throughout the expanded facility.
